On November 10, 2005 the manufacturers of the Ortho Evra Patch warned millions of of American women that the Ortho Evra Patch exposes them to over 60% more hormones (estrogen) than other propular forms of birth-control. In addition, they recognized that the Ortho Evra Patch may put users at a greater risk for developing a blood clot or other serious side effect.

What Causes Ortho Evra Side Effects?
The Ortho Evra Patch has been linked to an increased risk of DVT (Deep Venous Thrombosis) and PE (Pulmonary Embolism). These two Ortho Evra Patch side effects can lead to stroke, hemorrhage, heart attack and even death.
Evidence shows that the risk of blood clots and stroke associated with the Ortho Evra Patch is significantly higher than with oral contraceptive pills. The incidence of embolisms and thrombotic injuries in phase III trials of the Ortho Evra Patch was six (6) times greater than the incidence of such events in oral contraceptives using the hormone levonorgestrel.
Known Facts and Ortho Evra Side Effects
A Blood clot is a known risk of using hormonal birth control because estrogen promotes blood coagulation. Unfortunately, the FDA knew long before the Ortho Evra Patch’s introduction to the market that the incidence of nonfatal blood clots was three (3) times higher with the Ortho Evra Patch than with “the pill? A Blood clot will typically form in one of the legs and can eventually cause serious injury and/or death if they travel to the heart, lungs or brain.
